Wonderful first visit to the beautiful Peak District. The cottage was warm and comfortable – perfect for the four of us. Lots of lovely walks and places to eat. The Royal Oak was fantastic for dinner. We had our best Sunday roast at The Merchant’s Yard in Tideswell ever! We will definitely be back.

Thank you for a lovely cosy cottage. Very warm and only lit the wood burner once!
Very impressed with the facilities. Never visited the Peaks before and absolutely loved the area. Loved visiting Bakewell, Buxton and lots of other beautiful areas.
Particularly love DoveDale and the reservoirs at Derwent, site of the Dambusters practice with the bouncing bomb. Wonderful local scenery.
Would recommend The Royal Oak at Hurdlow for dinner – fantastic food and dog friendly. We managed to do something new each day, even when it rained and we visited Chatsworth – well worth a visit.
Thank you for your hospitality.

Great location. Parked in The Royal Oak car park (Hurdlow) and enjoyed easy walk along the High Peak Trail and returned to The Royal Oak for a wonderful meal (we ate here 3 times), then back to a lovely cosy cottage and very comfortable bed. Cottage well equipped, cleaned and cosy despite the weather being blustery on a couple of days. Would like to return.

We booked last minute which is always a risk. Well this risk paid off. Lovely cottage, great hosts and even the weather was more good than bad. A great short break – thanks

We have had a very nice four day stay in Derbyshire. Amazing and scenery and wonderful sunshine. People very friendly and Rosie was welcome at lots of places.
Very nice comfortable and clean cottage. Thank you.
Mark, Debbie & Molly, the Labrador – Aug 2019
Back for our fourth visit (2 in Byre, 2 in Hayloft). Mixed weather this time but avoided most of the rain. Lots of walks, Chatsworth, Tissington, Eyam & Winster. All great walks but Molly the Labrador says “watch out for cows and stiles/gates – which I found difficult getting over”. Loads of dog friendly pubs – we ate at The Royal Oak, Hurdlow and The Miners Standard at Winster, both very nice!
